Project Vision

A living collection, rebuilt as an interface.

Nostalgic Bedroom is a cinematic frontend experience designed to preserve the feeling of physical collections inside a modern PC environment.

It brings together systems, playlists, custom views, animated game themes, recreated console-style interfaces, VR rooms and Ultima Archives into one coherent place: a digital room built to collect, organize, contemplate and play.

SystemsHistorical consoles and visual identities presented as living interfaces.
Game ThemesCustom cinematic launch moments built around atmosphere, motion and presentation.
CollectionsFranchises and playlists organized like curated shelves inside a personal museum.
Ultima ArchivesFive large standalone experiences integrated into the broader Nostalgic Bedroom universe.
Creative Ecosystem

Built with respected tools, artists and inspirations — recomposed through my own vision.

Nostalgic Bedroom is an independent creative project created, designed and assembled by Pademonium. LaunchBox / Big Box is used as a technical foundation, but the artistic direction, cinematic views, interface design, videos, icons, collections, layouts, visual identity and overall experience were built through my own work.

This project is not an official LaunchBox product, nor an official extension or commercial add-on made by the LaunchBox team. It does not include any ROMs, games, ISOs, BIOS files, copyrighted game files or LaunchBox / Big Box license. Users must provide their own legal libraries, game paths and storefront connections, including PC folders, Steam libraries, Epic Games libraries or other legitimate sources.

Creative Direction Pademonium From the cinematic views to the icons, layouts, game themes, collections and global atmosphere, Nostalgic Bedroom was built as a personal frontend experience. The project is nourished by many influences, but the final composition, structure and visual language are my own.
Frontend Tool LaunchBox / Big Box LaunchBox / Big Box provides the frontend environment used to organize and launch the experience. Nostalgic Bedroom is built for it, but remains completely independent. No LaunchBox or Big Box license is included: every user must obtain their own license directly from the official LaunchBox website.
Theme Creation Tool Y2Guru / Community Theme Creator A special thanks to Y2Guru, creator of the Community Theme Creator for Big Box. This tool helped make many custom layouts, visual structures and experiments inside Nostalgic Bedroom easier to build, test and refine.
Virtual Rooms EmuVR EmuVR helped open the door to immersive retro rooms and physical-feeling spaces: CRT televisions, shelves, cartridges, childhood atmosphere and shared nostalgia. In Nostalgic Bedroom, I use EmuVR as a creative tool to stage some of those virtual rooms. EmuVR does not include any games: users must provide their own legitimate content.
Artistic Foundation Rachid Lotf As a member of Rachid Lotf’s Pop Culture School Academy, I had access to his courses, training videos, editable PSD files, resource base and artworks. Some visual elements in Nostalgic Bedroom are inspired by, adapted from, animated or reworked from this artistic foundation, with his permission and with full credit to his influence and work.
Documentary Inspiration Splash Wave / Jeroen Jeroen’s Splash Wave channel has been one of my inspirations for video game documentary preservation, retro culture and visual storytelling. His well researched, carefully edited documentaries, his rhythm, his use of artworks and Cinema 4D, and his elegant way of preserving gaming memory helped influence some views and compositions inside Nostalgic Bedroom.

Nostalgic Bedroom is nourished by tools, artists, channels, encounters and influences — but the whole thing is recomposed through my own vision. All mentioned names, tools, brands and artworks remain the property of their respective owners. This project credits these tools and inspirations, but is not an official product, license bundle or distribution from any of them.

LaunchBox provides the tool. Nostalgic Bedroom provides the vision.

Evergreen Game Showcase

More than a launch theme: a long-term showcase inside the player’s library.

Nostalgic Bedroom gives older and newer games a permanent stage. Official trailers, promotional footage, key art and visual identities can be re-edited and re-staged as cinematic game themes inside the player’s interface — turning publisher material into long-term visibility.

For players Collecting becomes part of the pleasure again. Icons, launch themes, ambient visuals and responsive sequences turn a simple launch into a small spectacle.
For publishers Once a theme is integrated into a library, the visibility stays there. The game keeps a place in the user’s interface instead of vanishing after release week, unlike a one-time gameplay video lost in the feed.
Cinematic presentation Some themes use audio-responsive motion, animated interfaces, responsive transitions and sometimes even lip-sync to turn promotion into a living launch moment.
Durable promotion This is not disposable promotion. It is an evergreen showcase: a game remains highlighted as long as the player keeps the theme, the icon and the game in their collection.
A small call to publishers and studiosNostalgic Bedroom does not replace publisher promotion. It gives it a second life. Trailers, key art and official visual material can become launch themes, animated artwork moments, audio-responsive scenes and even animated desktop wallpapers — not just an ad, but a place inside the player’s collection.

Concrete example

Forza Horizon 6 — a recent launch theme concept.

Here is a direct example of how a modern release can be re-staged inside Nostalgic Bedroom with complementary elements: a collection-ready icon, a dedicated game theme, animated artwork extracted from the official visual identity, and a video showcase.

Recent game theme example

Resident Evil — animated artwork and game theme extract.

This second example shows the same idea with a darker cinematic mood: an official-artwork-inspired animation can become a living visual asset, while the game theme itself turns the launch into a memorable moment inside the player’s interface.

Impactful game theme example

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond — animated artwork and game theme extract.

This third example highlights a theme with immediate visual impact: a striking animated artwork derived from the official identity, paired with a game theme extract that instantly communicates the tone, the energy and the futuristic atmosphere of the game.

Reviews & Community Videos

Seen, tested and remembered by the community.

Several passionate creators and players have taken the time to explore the Ultima projects and share their impressions through video. Some of these reviews were recorded on older versions, but they remain important snapshots of the journey.

One of these videos even described the project as “the most beautiful frontend ever” directly on its thumbnail. A strong statement, and a meaningful one: beyond the technical work, it shows that the atmosphere, presentation and emotional impact left a real impression.
